Virtual Training Tips

Are you putting together a virtual training site?  If so, here are some things you may want to consider.

  1. Printable checklists for what needs done.
  2. Assessments to help people start in the correct place.
  3. External links to define terms and find more detailed information.
  4. Progress bar to give visual representation of how much of the virtual training is complete.
  5. Feedback collected after each virtual training module.
  6. Video and audio – many people like more than just text.
  7. Interactive flash to illustrate points.
  8. Interactive community – either within the course or linked to.
  9. Virtual Training Learning Objectives clearly defined for every lesson.
  10. Remember where people stopped and restart there.

On top of those elements, if you are selecting a learning management system, consider the following:

  1. How easy is it to upload or build your virtual training lesson?
  2. How much video and audio will the system store?
  3. Does the system manage students well?
  4. Does the system have too many features you do not need?
  5. Does the system charge you for people even when they are inactive?
  6. Can you repurpose content from one virtual training module into another?

What other things do you look for when picking a system for managing your virtual training?  Use the comments and let us know what you think.
